The 1960 Fords were a new design. Engines continued to be the 223 cid base six rated at 145 hp. V8 choices were 292 cid 185 hp; 352 cid 235 hp, 352 300 hp, and 352 cid 360 hp versions. Design notables include a chrome strip that ran from the front bumper across the top of the fender and continued along the beltline, and continuing across the edges of the horizontal fins at the rear. Four headlights were set within the grille and the taillights were elongated semi-circles. Ford introduced its new compact car, the Falcon, in 1960. The Falcon was designed for those looking for basic, inexpensive transportation. The Falcon featured an 144 cid 85 hp six cylinder engine.
